The fight between former world champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramrez (44-1, 30 KOs) and former world title challenger Gabriel “King” Rosado (26-16-1, 15 KOs) has been canceled after Ramirez didn’t even come close to the light heavyweight limit (175) and came in at 187 pounds.

“No excuses. I had never missed weight in my 45 pro fights. This is the first and last time. I have always prided myself on being a professional, but today was not my finest moment.”

“I am embarrassed and upset by my actions and promise that this will never happen again,” Ramirez said. “I will make the right adjustments and will be back soon.”

Previously, Dmitry Bivol defeated Ramirez in a 175-pound title fight in November of 2022, ending Ramirez’s streak of five 175-pound victories by knockout. Ramirez, a former super middleweight champion, relinquished his 168-pound title in 2019 after successfully defending it five times.

Rosado recently suffered three consecutive losses following his impressive upset knockout win against Bektemir Melikuziev in June 2021. This was his first fight at 168 pounds as he moved up one weight class to challenge Ramirez.
