After Daniel Dubois' stunning knockout victory over Anthony Joshua to claim the IBF heavyweight title, talk of a rematch is already heating up. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that a second fight between the two British heavyweights could take place as part of the Riyadh Season events in 2025, following the activation of Joshua's rematch clause.

Though there’s no word yet on whether Joshua will immediately exercise his rematch clause, speculation surrounds his next move. Fans have long anticipated a clash between Joshua and Tyson Fury, but it remains unclear whether Joshua will opt for the Dubois rematch first or pursue the highly anticipated Fury fight. According to Hearn, Joshua is taking the rest of 2024 off to recover from the knockout loss before making his return in 2025.

Hearn praised Joshua’s determination, especially in the later rounds of the fight, despite being hurt early. "He never stopped trying to land big shots, even when he had no legs. That’s unbelievable heart," Hearn said. He acknowledged that Joshua didn't throw enough punches or use his jab effectively, which could have made a difference. Despite the loss, Hearn remains confident in Joshua’s fighting spirit, suggesting that the former champion is far from considering retirement.

As Joshua reflects on his defeat and regroups, the boxing world is left wondering if he will make adjustments in a rematch or if Dubois will once again prove too powerful.
