Former WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs), has re-emerged on social media with a torrent of verbal punches aimed at his division rivals. Fresh from his voluntary world title defense in December 2022, which saw him triumph over Derek Chisora in a one-sided stoppage, Fury has been hungry for more action. His efforts to set up an undisputed fight with WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA champion Oleksandr Usyk in April, however, were met with resistance as financial negotiations for a rematch crumbled.
Originally planning for a summer battle, Fury has faced obstacles in securing a fitting opponent. In a surprising move, Andy Ruiz, the former unified champion, demanded a staggering $20 million to step into the ring. Faced with such a proposition, Fury’s team turned their sights onto Zhang Zhilei. This pursuit was cut short, however, when the Chinese heavyweight committed to a rematch with Joe Joyce, leaving Fury once again in search of an opponent.
In a recent Instagram tirade, Fury vocalized his frustrations and his eagerness to return to the ring. “I’ve been off Instagram for a while, I’ve been on holiday, I’ve been chilling... But I just wanted to say to everybody that I want to knock out all these motherf----- out and I’m ready to rumble,” declared the former champion. He added, “I’ve not fought since December through no fault of my own. I’ve tried to fight some little midget Usyk and he’s not wanted anything, I’ve tried to fight AJ, he don’t want no smoke.” Fury concluded his fiery address with a chilling promise, “I cannot wait to fight Usyk, AJ, whoever is out there, I’m f------ you up because I’m the baddest motherf----- on the planet.”
