WBC and WBA light-flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji (21-1, 13 KOs) was taking on Anthony Olascuaga (5-1, 3 KOs) in a scheduled twelve-round bout in Tokyo, Japan.
All in all, Kenshiro Teraji successfully defended his titles by achieving an impressive TKO victory at 0:58 of the ninth round.
It is important to note, that Olascuaga stepped in as a last-minute substitute for WBO titleholder Jonathan Gonzalez, who had to withdraw from the highly anticipated unification bout with Teraji due to pneumonia.
Olascuaga proved to be a formidable replacement, showcasing his power as a genuine flyweight and displaying tremendous fighting spirit. After a back-and-forth battle in the middle of the contest, Teraji increased the intensity of his attack, ultimately sending the challenger to the canvas with a barrage of punches in the ninth round. At this point, experienced referee Mark Nelson judiciously called an end to the bout.
