As part of their ongoing series Night of Champions II, Boxlab Productions and the Caribe Royale Hotel staged an outrageous event in which Nestor Bravo (21-0, 15 KOs) met with Jair Valtierra (16-2, 8 KOs) and Antonio Vargas (15-1, 8 KOs) fought against Mitchell Banquez (20-2, 14 KOs).
In the main event, Nestor Bravo, Mexico native made the first defense of his WBO/NABO junior welterweight championship against Jair Valtierra, the WBC Hispanic champion. The current #10 WBO contender's homecoming ended in a no-contest when Bravo stopped the fight in the third round due to significant bleeding after a head-on collision.
In the co-main event, Antonio Vargas, a 2016 US Olympian from Kissimmee, Florida, was competing for the vacant WBA Continental Americas bantamweight championship in a step-up fight against Mitchell Banquez. Following a close first round, Vargas started to exert consistent pressure, bloodying Banquez's nose by the third round, and injuring him in the body to finish the fifth. Vargas increased the pressure in the sixth round, gravely shocking Banquez with a leaping left hook that required the referee to intervene as the corner stopped the fight at 2:38.
In the undercard, Idalberto Umara (8-1, 5 KOs), the WBA Fedecaribe lightweight champion from Miami, Florida, dispatched veteran Devi Julio (24-12, 15 KOs) without any difficulty, necessitating a referee stoppage at the 1:40 mark of round 2.
