Shakur Stevenson has set his sights on boxing sensation Gervonta Davis, eager to showcase his prowess by defeating the Baltimore native. Stevenson’s upcoming bout against Edwin De Los Santos on November 16th for the WBC lightweight title might be a stepping stone to lure Davis into the ring. However, Davis, known for his selective approach to opponents, hasn't shown interest in fighters with a defensive style like Stevenson or Vasily Lomachenko. Stevenson acknowledges the uphill battle, admitting that while Davis is a pay-per-view star, he hasn’t reached that stature yet.

Stevenson’s confidence remains unshaken, especially regarding his upcoming opponent, De Los Santos. “He’s strong with power, but he’s not going to beat me,” Stevenson remarked. He also addressed the buzz around Devin Haney, asserting that Haney's decision to move up to 140 was to avoid a bout with him. Stevenson believes that a fight with Haney might lose its allure if Haney faces a defeat against Regis Prograis.

The challenges for Stevenson are manifold. His defensive style, combined with his current standing in the boxing world, makes it difficult to secure fights with top-tier opponents like Davis. “There’s a million fighters that don’t want to get in the ring with me,” Stevenson lamented. Despite the hurdles, Stevenson remains focused on Davis, stating, “Me and Tank is the best fight.” However, he also recognizes the dynamics, noting, “I can’t throw no offers to Tank. Who am I to throw an offer to the biggest star in boxing?”

For Stevenson, aligning with PBC or Mayweather Promotions might increase his chances of a dream bout with Davis. But for now, he remains intent on proving his worth, emphasizing that Davis is the one opponent he truly desires to face.
