Sony Hall in New York hosted an action-packed night of boxing on DAZN, where in the main event, Puerto Rico’s super welterweight Brian Ceballo (14-1, 7 KOs), was fighting against former South American champion Luis “Lucho” Alberto Veron (20-6-2, 9 KOs) of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Ceballo and Veron went head-to-head for eight rounds, with Ceballo consistently outworking Veron. Despite a more competitive fourth round, Ceballo continued to dominate with his jab and powerful right hands, mostly targeting Veron’s body. By the end of the bout, referee Eddie Claudio declared Ceballo the winner, with scores of 79-73 twice and 80-72.
In another exciting bout in the undercard, super-light southpaw Tsendbaatar Erdenebat (6-0, 3 KOs) defeated fellow southpaw Edy “Dinamita” Valencia Mercado (20-10-6, 7 KOs) over eight rounds to claim the vacant NABF title. The contest saw both fighters exchanging jabs and landing significant shots, with Erdenebat taking the upper hand in the end. The final scores were 80-72, 78-74 twice, and 77-75 in favor of Erdenebat.
Miyo “Musashi” Yoshida (16-3, 0 KOs) made her US debut in a closely contested battle against Indeya Rodriguez (6-7-2, 1 KO) over eight two-minute rounds. Yoshida, a former WBO super fly champion, managed to outwork Rodriguez and take the win in a split decision, with scores of 76-76, 77-75, and 78-74.
The night also featured a thrilling six-round bout between light Sydney “The Jackal” Maccow (9-8, 3 KOs) and Christian “Veneo” Otero (5-4, 2 KOs), with Maccow ultimately claiming victory. The two fighters went toe-to-toe, showing their determination and making up for any lack of skill with sheer effort. Maccow suffered a cut over his left eyebrow in the final round but managed to secure the win with scores of 59-55 and 58-56 twice.
