Australian WBC featherweight champion Skye Nicolson has her next fight date confirmed for July 13, where she will face Dominican contender Dyana Vargas at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Unbeaten Nicolson is set to make her first defense of the WBC featherweight title she claimed in April by unanimous decision against Sarah Mahfoud. This fight will mark Nicolson's second appearance in the ring in 2024. The 25-year-old southpaw is eager to prove herself as the best featherweight in the world.

“I’m excited to defend my WBC world title on this great card in Philadelphia. Although it’s just my 11th fight, I truly believe I am the best featherweight in the world. I want to find a way to capture the other belts, my dream is to become undisputed and I’m willing to take whatever challenges necessary to achieve that. I look forward to making a statement on July 13, live on DAZN.”

Dyana Vargas will be making her U.S. and international debut, riding a two-fight winning streak. The 32-year-old contender from the Dominican Republic recently stopped Gina Joseph in the first round of their February bout. Vargas is eager to seize this opportunity for a world title.

“Ever since I started boxing this was my dream to fight for a world title, it is a dream come true and I’m taking advantage of this opportunity. I thank Matchroom for this chance and the champion better be ready because the beast from the Dominican Republic is coming for her.”

The event’s main attraction will feature local favorite Jaron Ennis defending his IBF 147-pound title against Cody Crowley from Peterborough, Canada. In the co-main event, Jalil Hackett will clash with Peter Dobson from The Bronx, New York at welterweight.
