In what appears to be a highly anticipated rematch, boxing legends Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are reportedly set to face off again sometime in 2024. Pacquiao announced the plans for this bout live at RIZIN 45 on December 31st, although Mayweather's camp has yet to confirm the fight from their end.
Despite both Mayweather, 46, and Pacquiao, 45, being past their prime and not active in professional boxing, the rematch is expected to garner significant attention and Pay-Per-View (PPV) purchases. However, it's unlikely to reach the record-breaking heights of their first encounter in May 2015.
The odds for this proposed rematch, set by BetOnline, indicate a much closer contest than their original fight. Initially, Mayweather was a -225 favorite, while Pacquiao was a +175 underdog. The current odds for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 are more evenly matched: Floyd Mayweather: -130 (10/13), Manny Pacquiao: +100 (1/1).
Early betting has already seen action in favor of Pacquiao, causing a shift in the odds since they opened with Mayweather at -140 and Pacquiao at +110. Given that this fight is likely to be an exhibition match, oddsmakers, and bettors might be considering Pacquiao as the more motivated of the two fighters.
