Subriel Matias, the reigning IBF light welterweight champion, is gearing up to face off against the undefeated Shohjahon Ergashev on November 25th. Their match will be a highlight of the undercard for the much-anticipated David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade event on Showtime PPV. With a stellar lineup, the addition of this bout further elevates the evening's appeal.

Matias, known for his powerful punches and impressive record of 19-1 with 19 KOs, is currently riding a four-fight knockout streak. Should the Benavidez-Andrade main event not live up to the hype, Matias and Ergashev promise to deliver. While Jermall Charlo is rumored to face Jose Benavidez Jr. as the co-feature, if that doesn’t pan out, the Matias-Ergashev bout might fill that prime slot.

Despite Matias’ formidable reputation in the 140-lb division, he’s often been avoided by top contenders. A decisive win against Ergashev might solidify this reputation. However, a shaky victory might attract attention from notable fighters like Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez.

Ergashev, though packing a punch, especially with his left hand, has had accuracy issues in the past. Both fighters, at 31, come with powerful profiles but lack significant standout names on their records. Matias’ single defeat in 2020 came against Petros Ananyan, but he avenged it in January 2022, showcasing his resilience and determination.
