Keyshawn Davis is excited about the possibility of facing newly crowned WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk. The two were set to fight last year, but Berinchyk chose a different path, which ultimately led him to a title shot. Berinchyk won the WBO belt by upsetting Emanuel Navarrete in a split decision on Saturday in San Diego.

Davis, currently training for a July 6 card in New Jersey, expressed his enthusiasm about the potential matchup:

“Me and Berinchyk would be exciting because he likes to fight, I love to fight as well. Fighting for the title would make me naturally more aggressive. It’s going to be a fan-favorite firefight. When I posted about it, I got a lot of good reaction from the fans, so I think they’re excited. We should make it happen this year.”

“I’ve got the abilities, the skill, the strength, the power, the IQ,” Davis said. “I’m a complete fighter. Smart fighter. I like to mix it up with you. My mentality is it’s never boring in the ring. Berinchyk will bring the best out of me – fighting for my first title. Now that he’s got a title, we’re going to double back."

As Davis prepares for his fight against Miguel Maduneno on the July 6 ESPN card, he remains focused on his ultimate goal, a world title:

“I can’t wait to perform. I love fighting. It’s opportunity, and you can’t take opportunity for granted. The sport is just waiting for us to perform.”

Also worth noting, is that his brother, Kelvin Davis, will also be fighting on the same card, making it a significant event for the Davis family.
