The world of welterweight boxing is set to witness a colossal clash between champions Errol Spence and Terence Crawford, and one man, in particular, Jaron “Boots” Ennis, will be watching with bated breath. The reason? Ennis holds the interim-title of the IBF and wants to take on the victor of this epic showdown.

Slated for July 29th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the Spence-Crawford fight promises to be a grand spectacle with all four major titles at stake. The event, covered by Showtime Pay-Per-View, is sure to captivate the boxing world. However, for Ennis, it's much more than just entertainment. “I believe I’m the best option,” the undefeated Philadelphia native said in an interview with TMZ. He added, “I feel like everybody wants to see me versus Spence or me versus Bud. I don't think they want to see anybody else fight them.”

Ennis' anticipation may have to endure a little longer, though. Both Spence and Crawford have an immediate rematch clause, virtually ensuring a second match. Before setting his sights fully on the Spence-Crawford winner, Ennis will return to the ring on Saturday night to face Roiman Villa in Atlantic City, an event televised by Showtime.

Known for his knockout prowess, Ennis has notched 19 KOs in his last 20 fights. His opponent, Villa, a native of Rosario, Venezuela, pulled off one of 2023’s most stunning upsets when he managed a majority decision victory over previously undefeated contender Rashidi Ellis. In what promises to be a thrilling bout, Ennis’ potential for a future clash with the Spence-Crawford winner adds a compelling subplot to the already electrifying welterweight division.
