Devin Haney is already preparing for a rematch against Ryan Garcia in 2025. In a recent training clip shared by his father, Bill Haney, Devin can be seen working on defending against left hooks - the very punch that caused him trouble in their April bout. Bill’s caption, “No secret what time we on,” suggests the Haney camp is focused on redeeming themselves.

In their first meeting, Garcia used his devastating left hook to drop Haney three times, earning a majority decision win at the Barclays Center. The loss has left Haney needing a comeback to regain confidence and momentum after being out of the ring for seven months.

It’s unclear if Haney, 26, will take a tune-up fight before facing Garcia again. A warmup bout would help him sharpen his skills and rebuild his fanbase before stepping back into the ring with “Kingry.” Meanwhile, Garcia is staying active, set to face Japanese contender Rukiya Anpo on December 30.

Haney’s strategy for neutralizing Garcia’s left hook could be crucial. He struggled to make adjustments in their first fight, often leaving himself vulnerable by clinching or failing to keep his guard up. To turn the tide in a rematch, Haney may need to stay on the outside, rely on his jab, and avoid giving Garcia easy opportunities to land his signature shot.
