Following two unanimous decision defeats to Devin Haney, George Kambosos Jr. confidently declares that Haney is the best lightweight boxer in the world. Kambosos, having engaged Haney in a total of 24 rounds, firmly believes that Haney's record and accolades set him apart.

“Devin Haney has the belts. He's proven. He’s got everything,” Kambosos shared in an interview. He stated that while Gervonta Davis has defeated formidable opponents, he hasn’t competed against the caliber of fighters Haney has. Kambosos also cited a rehydration clause in Davis’s win against Ryan Garcia, suggesting that such factors can undermine a boxing resume.

Davis, known for his knockout prowess, has claimed victories over Ryan Garcia, Rolando Romero, Isaac Cruz, and Yuriorkis Gamboa. Meanwhile, Haney’s recent achievements include a unanimous decision victory against Vasiliy Lomachenko and additional wins against Joseph Diaz Jr., Jorge Linares, and Gamboa. Both fighters present strong cases as to who the superior 135-pounder is, yet Haney’s undisputed champion status and possession of all the belts tip the scales in his favor.

Looking to re-establish his standing in the lightweight division, Kambosos is set to face Maxi Hughes on July 22 at the Firelake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Despite his losses, the Greek-Australian fighter remains undeterred, stating, “I want to test myself against the best and elite guys in the world. If the loss comes, big deal. It doesn’t affect me as a fighter. More than anything, it motivates me even more.”
