In the bustling city of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, boxing aficionados gathered at the Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutierrez Moreno this Friday. The event, broadcasted over DAZN and masterfully promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, promised a night of intense action. The main event spotlighted WBO NABO Lightweight champion Angel “Tashiro” Fierro, who was set to defend his title against the formidable southpaw Brayan Zammaripa.

The main event was nothing short of a 10-round war. Angel “Tashiro” Fierro (22-1-2, 17 KOs) and Brayan Zammaripa (13-2, 4 KOs) both weighed in at #134.5. Zammaripa started strong, taking the fight to Fierro and rocking him multiple times, especially in the third round. However, as the rounds progressed, Fierro began to find his rhythm, even managing to knock out Zammaripa’s mouthpiece in the eighth round. The tenth and final round saw Fierro having Zammaripa on the ropes, but the resilient Zammaripa continued to fight back. The bout ended with a disputed split decision in favor of Fierro, with scores of 96-94 for both fighters and a final 96-95 tipping the scales for Fierro.

In another highlight of the evening, WBC Interim World Featherweight champion Sabrina “La Munequita” Maribel Perez (18-2-1, 2 KOs) faced off against 2020 Olympian and WBC Silver and Commonwealth Feather champ Skye Nicholson (8-0, 0 KOs). Both fighters weighed in at #125.7. Nicholson, with her superior reach and technique, managed to outwork Perez throughout the bout. Perez’s left eye was nearly closed by the end of the tenth round, and Nicholson looked every bit the champion. The judges’ decision was unanimous in favor of Nicholson with scores of 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93.

The undercard was packed with thrilling matches. Former WBA Feather champion Erika “Dinamita” Cruz (16-2, 3 KOs) faced southpaw Melissa Oddessa (6-2, 2 KOs) in a 10-round slugfest. Both fighters gave their all, with Oddessa rocking Cruz multiple times in the ninth round. However, Cruz emerged victorious with scores of 99-91 twice and 98-92. Featherweight Kevin “El Gallo Negro” Barron Crespo (12-1, 9 KOs) suffered his first loss against Christian “Kiki” Olivo (21-1-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-round bout filled with back-and-forth action. The heavyweight clash saw Federico Pacheco, Jr. (5-0, 4 KOs) deliver a knockout blow to Carlos Cardenas (4-1, 3 KOs) in the third round, solidifying his undefeated record.
