In the next 48 hours, Edgar Berlanga (20-0, 16 KOs) will select from the three proposals he has on the table to be his new promoter.
Super middleweight contender Berlanga, 25, has previously visited with Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy and Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing to discuss joining their respective organizations. Floyd Mayweather Jr. was also discussed.
The 25-year-old Berlanga claims he wants to return to the ring and gain experience by taking on opponents like Gary O'Sullivan, John Ryder, and Jaime Munguia before taking on Canelo Alvarez.
Berlanga would most likely need to sign with Hearn in order to be expedited into the Canelo bout as joining his Matchroom stables provides him the best chance at the fight against the Mexican star.
It might be argued that Berlanga would be better off taking on Demetrius Andrade, Ali Akhmedov, Diego Pacheco, Liam Smith, Jermall Charlo, Gennady Golovkin, or Janibek Alimkhanuly rather than John Ryder.
