Don King is trying to pull the plug on the newly announced Jarrell Miller vs. Michael Hunter headliner in Las Vegas on September 11. The Hall of Fame promoter says he has a “legal and binding” deal with Hunter and has issued a cease-and-desist to SELA and TKO Group Holdings, who are promoting the bout during Canelo–Crawford fight week.
King’s argument leans on leverage he’s already secured: in May he won a $1.1 million WBA purse bid to stage Hunter’s shot at Kubrat Pulev’s secondary heavyweight title, and he insists that matchup remains the sanctioned priority. “They continue to disobey the WBA and its clear directive on the Pulev-Hunter championship fight,” King said.
The Hunter–Miller date was pushed across social channels late last week as the week’s showcase heavyweight main event two nights before Canelo–Crawford at Allegiant Stadium. Whether it survives now depends on contracts and the WBA’s stance if King presses the issue.
