Dillian Whyte is ready to step into the ring once again with his British heavyweight rival, Anthony Joshua. Expressing his willingness to accept a proposed bout on August 12 at The O2 Arena, Whyte has reignited a rivalry that traces back to their amateur days when he defeated Joshua. However, Joshua came out on top in their 2015 professional face-off, a defeat Whyte is eager to avenge.
Negotiations for the rematch picked up momentum after Whyte publicly challenged Eddie Hearn, citing a communication breakdown regarding the second fight. In response to this, talks resumed, leading to Whyte set to receive a contract for the rematch. Open to a 'winner-takes-all' fight, Whyte appears ready to reclaim his standing against Joshua, despite their tumultuous history marked by victories and defeats.
Both fighters have had a taste of loss and victory in their careers. After his amateur win over Joshua, Whyte had to swallow a bitter pill when Joshua claimed a win during their 2015 professional match. Joshua went on to bag an Olympic gold medal at London 2012 and subsequently became a unified world champion. However, he faced back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk before emerging victorious over Jermaine Franklin. Whyte, on the other hand, rebuilt his career against Franklin following his loss to Tyson Fury in the 2022 WBC title fight. Now, Whyte is all geared up to square things with Joshua, making it clear that he carries enough power to knock out his old rival.
