Demetrius Andrade is urging David Benavidez to finalize the agreement for a bout that would determine the premier fighter in the 168-lb division. Benavidez is already under scrutiny for declining a challenge from WBA “regular” champion David Morrell, despite his claims of wanting to face top-tier competition to pressure Canelo Alvarez. The inconsistency raises questions about his intentions, especially after bypassing an opportunity to face David Morrell.

Andrade, a former two-division world champion, boasts a sterling record and has captured division titles at both 154 and 160. His ambitions now lie in securing a third division title, but to face Canelo Alvarez, he must first contend with WBC interim 168-lb champion, Benavidez. A potential clash between Benavidez and the Rhode Island native is anticipated for November, pending Benavidez's agreement.

Following a recent interview, Andrade confirmed he had committed to the bout by aligning with PBC & Showtime. The ball is now in Benavidez’s court. It’s worth noting that Benavidez’s recent victory over Caleb “Sweethands” Plant was hard-fought, with Plant showcasing his prowess in the initial rounds. However, Andrade feels there's no comparison between him and Plant and remains confident in his abilities to handle pressure.

Commenting on his transition to PBC and Showtime, Andrade expressed his eagerness for the bout, indicating that the terms were clear on his end. He was also prompted to compare Benavidez to Jermell Charlo. While Andrade acknowledged both fighters’ unique strengths, he emphasized that adaptability was his advantage, being able to match any fighting style as required.
