Oscar De La Hoya is taking his rivalry with Eddie Hearn to a new level, promising to fight the Matchroom promoter “for free” as part of a proposed 6-vs-6 super card. The 51-year-old boxing legend, who last fought professionally over a decade ago, claims he only needs two months to prepare for the bout. De La Hoya is confident that he can easily dismantle Hearn, promising to drag out the fight for four to five rounds just to “have some fun.”

The proposed super card features potential matchups like Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Jaron “Boots” Ennis, Jaime Munguia vs. Diego Pacheco, and Devin Haney vs. Oscar Duarte. However, these dream matchups are still in the early stages, with no official negotiations confirmed. De La Hoya is particularly adamant about fighting in a small 16x16 ring, claiming it would give him the advantage to force Hearn into retirement.

Eddie Hearn, meanwhile, responded with amusement, joking that De La Hoya needing two months to prepare is laughable. However, Hearn has reportedly demanded an eight-figure payday if the fight were to take place. De La Hoya quickly dismissed that idea, saying he’s willing to do it as a gift to His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, who has been involved in bringing major boxing events to Saudi Arabia.

De La Hoya believes this rivalry with Hearn is great for boxing, adding a level of entertainment and excitement for fans. But many worry that turning the spotlight on promoters rather than fighters could send the wrong message. We all will watch closely to see if this bizarre matchup actually materializes or if it’s just another publicity stunt.
