Caleb Plant is making his return to the boxing ring on August 17th to face the undefeated Trevor McCumby. The former super middleweight champion announced the fight through Instagram, and it will be held at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. Plant aims to regain his champion status and pursue a second world title, either by facing Canelo Alvarez again or winning a vacated title.
Plant's last fight was in March 2023, when he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to David Benavidez. This loss led to the longest layoff in his career, mainly due to his promoter, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), negotiating a new broadcast deal with Prime Video starting in March. Richie Plant, Caleb's father and trainer, expressed the team's eagerness to return to the ring.
The August 17th event will be PBC's first non pay-per-view card since signing the broadcast partnership with Prime Video. The card will stream for free to all Prime Video subscribers and is also expected to feature former junior featherweight world champion Stephen Fulton in the co-main event.

In 2019, Caleb Plant won the IBF super middleweight title by defeating Jose Uzcategui through a unanimous decision. He defended his title three times, including a bout in Nashville, before facing Alvarez for the undisputed super middleweight championship. Despite losing to Alvarez by 11th-round TKO, Plant made a comeback with a knockout victory over former world champion Anthony Dirrell in 2022 before challenging Benavidez.
Coming from Illinois but fighting out of Glendale, Arizona, McCumby holds an undefeated record. After a nearly five-year layoff, he returned to the ring in 2023 and has since secured three wins against club-level fighters.
