Yesterday, on Friday fight night at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California, super featherweight George "El Yuyu" Acosta (14-1, 2 KOs) fought against Marlin Sims (8-2, 4 KOs).
As a result of the bout, in the main event, George managed to find a way to knockout his opponent in the third round. A barrage of unanswered punches knocked Sims to the canvas just as referee Ray Corona called the fight stopped when the time was 2:25.
In the co-main event, unbeaten super welterweight Nelson "Nuckle" Oliva (6-0, 5 KOs) went the distance for the first time, defeating Wayne Boudreaux (2-1, 1 KO) in six rounds by majority decision. It was an intriguing brawl that might have gone either way, but the hometown fighter won by scores of 60-54, 58-56, and 58-56. The crowd booed as the scores were announced.
