Veteran promoter Bob Arum has put to rest swirling rumors about a potential bout between Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. in Australia. Arum stated that Lomachenko, hailing from Ukraine, has decided to stay off the boxing canvas for the remainder of 2023 and ponder his next move in 2024. This confirmation came after a meeting with Lomachenko’s manager, Egis Klimas, who informed Arum of Lomachenko’s decision.

Lomachenko, with a record of 17-3, had an opportunity to contest against Kambosos for multiple lightweight titles earlier in 2022. However, due to the invasion of his home country by Russia, Lomachenko stepped back. Meanwhile, Kambosos recently entered into a promotional deal with Arum’s Top Rank Inc.

In another corner of the boxing world, Devin Haney, after a contentious victory over Lomachenko, has his sights set on the 140-pound division. A potential bout against WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis is in the talks, although not yet sealed.

On the other hand, Shakur Stevenson, having failed to secure a bout with Haney or Lomachenko, is now the center of attention for a main event scheduled for November 16. While the opponent remains uncertain, Arum is confident about finding a worthy contender for Stevenson, believing him to be the most talented in the lightweight division.
