On Friday’s fight night, the junior welterweight Julian Rodriguez (22-1, 14 KOs) faced off against Kashon Hutchinson (10-6, 2 KOs) in an eight-round bout at the Wind Creek Events Center in Bethlehem, Pa.

After a 21-month hiatus from the ring, Julian Rodriguez admitted to feeling out of practice but managed to secure a unanimous decision victory in his comeback yesterday. Although one judge scored the bout 80-72 in favor of Rodriguez, this did not reflect the closely contested nature of the fight, with the other two judges scoring it 78-74.

In the first round, Rodriguez seemed poised for an early victory as he delivered a few heavy blows to Hutchinson. He continued with powerful punches, including a rocking overhand right in the second round, before turning his attention to a body-focused assault in the fourth.

Hutchinson displayed resilience and managed to make a comeback, utilizing his southpaw jab and movement in the fifth round to keep Rodriguez at a distance. The latter half of the fight was less thrilling than the first, with Rodriguez’s energy waning as the bout progressed. However, Rodriguez ended the bout on a high note, delivering an overhand right and left hook to Hutchinson as the final bell rang.
