After facing Caleb Plant on March 25 on Showtime PPV, Jose Benavidez Sr. claims his son David has contracts for three significant fights. WBC interim super middleweight champion Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) will face David Morrell, Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade, and Jermall Charlo.
On March 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the 25-year-old Benavidez's first opponent will be former IBF super middleweight champion Plant (22-1, 13 KOs). Benavidez is at his wits’ end with Plant, and in order to silence him, he intends to rip him apart.
Plant was demanding a variety of things throughout the negotiations, and according to Benavidez Sr., if they had refused his request for even one of those items, he wouldn't have been fighting.
“Going back to Caleb Plant, I think he felt pressure, and when they said you’ve got to fight this guy, he came up with all these ridiculous requests,” said Jose Benavidez Sr. to Fighthype.
“We have a contract for three fights right now. If I didn’t think he could make 168, we’ll definitely go to 175. We have a lot of good fighters. At 175, we have Zurdo Ramirez, Bivol, Beterbiev. All these guys we can make fights that are so good.”
