Zepeda vs. Prograis

November 26, 2022 | Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California

Network: FITE TV / PPV

Fight Details

WBC #1 ranked Jose «Chon» Zepeda (35-2, 27 KOs) feces #2 ranked former World Champion Regis «Rougarou» Prograis (27-1, 23 KOs) for vacant WBC title in a 12-round super lightweight bout in California. In the co-feature, undefeated WBC and WBO female super flyweight champion Evelyn ‘La Princesita’ Bermudez (17-0-1, 6 KOs) defends against Yokasta ‘Yoka’ Valle (26-2, 9 KOs).

For Zepeda, the upcoming fight is already a third title attempt. In 2015, due to an injury, he withdrew during the fight with Terry Flanagan, and in 2019 he controversially lost to Jose Ramirez. Interestingly, the winner of the fight Zepeda vs Prograis should give an immediate fight to Ramirez - as decided by the WBC.

Zepeda’s opponent – Prograis, is a former WBC interim and former diamond champion, Super Series finalist, and former WBA world champion. The only defeat he suffered in his career was in the WBSS final - to Josh Taylor.

Previously, Jose Zepeda got into an accident, but according to his brother/manager René Zepeda: “He was not injured in the accident. No injuries, bruises or even abrasions”, so the match will take place.
