WBA junior lightweight titleholder Lamont Roach Jr. is set to make his first world title defense in his hometown of Washington D.C., broadcast live on ProBox TV. Fresh off capturing the title from Hector Luis Garcia, Roach (24-1-1, 9 KOs) faces the undefeated Northern Irishman Feargal McCrory (16-0, 8 KOs).
Describing the feeling of becoming a world champion as the greatest moment of his life, Roach reflected on the long journey from childhood dreams to professional triumph.
”Winning the title was a culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Now, I want to affirm my position in the division with a strong defense against McCrory,” Roach stated.
Having fought in his hometown only twice before, with his last local bout occurring in 2016, Roach is eager to perform at the ESA Arena in Washington.
”It's been a long time coming, and I'm thrilled to bring world championship boxing back to D.C. I'm ready to demonstrate that I am a cut above McCrory and ready to compete at a unification level.”
