Elijah Pierce (17-2, 14 KOs) squares off against Mike Plania (28-2, 15 KOs) in a pivotal bout of the Overtime Boxing series at the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia and will be streamed live on DAZN.
Oklahoma-based Pierce, 26, is coming off an impressive victory against former world title challenger Tramaine Williams in April 2023. The win extends Pierce’s streak to eight consecutive victories, which also includes wins over previously unbeaten Jesse Garcia and Ryizeemmion Ford. Despite previous losses to Giovanni Cabrera and Sulaiman Segawa, Pierce has grown into a more complete fighter and feels ready to take on Plania, ranked No. 8 by The Ring at 122 pounds.
Plania recently secured a first-round victory over Mark Anthony Geraldo last May in his hometown of General Santos City, Philippines. Since losing to Ra’eese Aleem in September, Plania has won his last two fights and holds notable victories over former contender Joshua Greer, Jr. and Giovanni Gutierrez.
Pierce’s team is confident in his abilities. Promoter Tony Jeter believes Pierce has the potential to become a world champion, affirming the significance of the upcoming bout in Elijah’s career.
In the co-main event of the evening, 2020 Olympic Bronze medalist Oshae Jones (3-0) will meet Miranda Barber (3-4, 1 KO) in a 6-round junior middleweight clash.
