Mikiah Kreps (8-0, 3 KOs), ranked #5 by the WBA and WBO in the super bantamweight division, is set to headline for the first time in her hometown of Niagara Falls on Friday, October 4th. She’ll be facing the #3 world-ranked and former two-time WBA World Champion Mayerlin "La Monita" Rivas (17-5-3, 11 KOs) from Maracaibo, Venezuela. The 10-round main event will take place at the Seneca Niagara Events Center and will be broadcast live across Latin America on ESPN Knockout, starting at 9:00 pm EDT. The event is promoted by Tuto Zabala Jr's All Star Boxing, Inc.
Kreps, who has become a familiar face in the Seneca Fight Night series, is thrilled to fight in front of her hometown crowd with a belt on the line. "It feels great to be fighting again at home but this time with a belt on the line," Kreps said as she continues her climb up the rankings. In her last bout, she secured a victory over Melissa Odessa Parker in an 8-round contest.
Meanwhile, Mayerlin Rivas, the battle-hardened former champion, is ready to give it her all. "I have nothing to lose," Rivas stated. "I'm here to give it my all as I always do. It's all or nothing for me." Rivas, who has held two world titles in her career, won the WBA Bantamweight belt in 2015 and later claimed the WBA Super Bantamweight title in 2020, before losing a controversial decision to Erica Cruz last November.
The co-main event of the night will feature a local showdown between two of western New York's finest, as Buffalo's Gerfred "The Authentic" Ngayot (7-2, 6 KOs) squares off against Dunkirk’s Wilfredo "El Bravo Vega" Flores (10-3-1, 5 KOs) in an 8-round lightweight clash. Both fighters are well-known in the local boxing scene.
