Philadelphia’s historic Met venue is set to host a night of explosive boxing action on Saturday, August 24th, headlined by rising star Isiah Johnson (9-0, 7 KOs) of Sicklerville, NJ, as he takes on the battle-tested Andrew Rodgers (9-12-3, 3 KOs) from Elkhart, Indiana, in a highly anticipated super lightweight bout. The event is promoted by DRCO and RDR Promotions and promises to showcase some of the best-emerging talent in the region.
The undercard is stacked with exciting matchups featuring several top prospects. Former world heavyweight title challenger Bryant Jennings (24-4, 14 KOs) makes his return to the ring after a five-year hiatus, taking on Joel Caudle (9-8-2, 6 KOs) of North Carolina in an eight-round bout. Jennings, a Philadelphia native, is eager to make a statement in his comeback fight in front of his hometown fans.
In another eight-round contest, Avious Griffin (14-0, 13 KOs) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, will face off against William Jackson (13-4-2, 5 KOs) of Cincinnati in a welterweight showdown.
The card also features a six-round middleweight battle between Philadelphia’s own Erron Peterson (6-0-1, 4 KOs) and Ashton Sykes (6-7, 2 KOs) from Columbia, Maryland.
Rounding out the night’s action are several four-round bouts, including an intriguing rematch between super featherweights Jabril Noble (5-0, 4 KOs) and Nasir Mickens (2-4, 1 KO), both hailing from Philadelphia. Additionally, twin brothers Steven and Daniel Grandy, both 17 years old and fighting out of Houston, will be looking to continue their promising starts in the pro ranks with super featherweight bouts.
