Italian contender Francesco Grandelli (18-3-2, 4 KOs) will face Spain’s Cristobal Lorente (19-0-1, 8 KOs) in a 12-round bout for the European Union featherweight title this Friday at the Palazzetto Dello Sport Carbonia in Carbonia, Italy. The event will stream live on ESPN+ and DAZN starting at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.
Grandelli returns to home soil after a decision loss to Scotsman Nathaniel Collins in May. Before that, the 30-year-old rebounded from a defeat to Mauro Forte with a decision win over Emiliano Salvini and a second-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Stefan Voda.
Lorente, an undefeated pro with eight years of experience, captured the EU featherweight title with a majority decision victory over Mauro Forte in July. The Spanish champion will look to defend his title in what could be one of the toughest tests of his career. Grandelli’s home advantage and experience will provide a strong challenge as he seeks to re-establish himself on the European stage.
The undercard features several intriguing matchups. Cruiserweight Fabio Turchi (23-3, 16 KOs) steps into the ring against Viktar Chvarkou (5-18, 3 KOs) in a six-round contest. Patrick Cappai (11-0, 2 KOs) will face Tasha Mjuaji (17-12-3, 5 KOs) in a featherweight bout, also scheduled for six rounds. Additionally, unbeaten junior middleweight Stefano Lai (5-0, 1 KO) meets Sebastiano Argiolas (4-1, 3 KOs) in another six-round clash.
