The British and Commonwealth junior bantamweight champion Marcel Braithwaite (16-3-1, 1 KO) prepares for an international challenge and is set to face IBO titleholder Ricardo Malajika (12-2, 9 KOs) in Kempton Park, South Africa, on April 5.
The journey to South Africa represents a pivotal moment in Braithwaite's career. At 29, he's no stranger to the rigors of boxin. Yet, the fight against Malajika, a heavy-handed opponent born and raised in Gauteng, Johannesburg, is set to mark a new chapter.
Kempton Park's elevation and the transition from summer to autumn add layers of complexity to the bout. However, Braithwaite is not one to shy away from adversity. Instead, he embraces the challenge, seeing it as an opportunity to prove his mettle under tough conditions. “If I can go to South Africa and do it there, I can do it anywhere,” Braithwaite stated.
Braithwaite's strategy involves arriving in South Africa 10 days prior to the fight to acclimatize. Despite expecting a hostile environment, he remains unfazed, drawing strength from his faith.
