Russia's Abdullaev (19-1, 11 KOs) is no stranger to tough competition. The former WBC Silver champion last fought in February, defeating former world champion Roger "The Kid" Gutierrez by unanimous decision. With a solid record and five straight victories, the 30-year-old Russian is looking to keep his momentum going as he takes on Carrasco.
Juan Javier Carrasco (20-1, 12 KOs), hailing from Mendoza, Argentina, is no slouch himself. Carrasco has been on a knockout spree, winning six consecutive fights by stoppage. His last fight in 2023 saw him take out Venezuelan Flecher Silva in the second round. Carrasco, the current IBF Intercontinental champion, will be making his 2024 debut with hopes of continuing his knockout streak and securing a shot at a world title.
