Biography
Jennifer Miranda was born on August 19, 1986, in Cádiz, Andalucía, Spain, and currently resides in Madrid. Before turning professional, she had a standout amateur career, becoming a nine-time consecutive Spanish national champion. She also won multiple international titles and represented Spain in top-tier competitions, ranking among the top nine globally.
She turned professional on February 3, 2018, at Gimnasio Metropolitano in Madrid, where she earned a unanimous decision over Claire Sammut in a 4-round bout—her professional debut. Miranda successfully defended her national title twice in 2019 against Vanesa Caballero, first in May at the same venue and again in December in Bilbao. Both victories were by unanimous decision, making her the first female boxer to defend Spain’s national featherweight crown.
Miranda's success continued with defenses in May 2022 against Sayda Mosquera (unanimous decision) at Teatro Lope de Vega and in July 2022 against Kalina Nikolova (unanimous decision) at Polideportivo Magariños, solidifying her position in the federation rankings. On January 7, 2023, she secured the opportunity to fight for the WBA Interim Featherweight World Title against Iara Altamirano in Madrid. Although the result of that bout is not included here, it was a significant step toward her future championship aspirations.
Her most notable triumph came on October 20, 2024, against Teresa Almengor at Teatro Las Vegas in Madrid. With an effective jab and impressive body work, Miranda won by unanimous decision (100-90, 100-90, 100-89), claiming the WBA Interim Featherweight World Title.
Outside the ring, she holds two bachelor’s degrees and two master’s degrees, including an MBA, and is currently pursuing another degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Miranda is also an established actress, best known for her role as “Arteche” in Netflix’s global hit La Casa de Papel. She trains at The Boxer Club in Madrid under coach Javier Pardo and is managed by Sergio Pérez.
Technical Overview
Jennifer Miranda fights with the grace of a matador, moving on nimble feet—light, measured, and always ready to strike. Her jab crashes over the waves like a storm from Cádiz, and setting the pace. Her favored combinations start with that piercing jab, quickly followed by a snapping right hand or a crisp left hook that sends opponents’ heads snapping back. She weaves together head and body shots with delivering punches like verses in a poem, unpredictable and infused with the spirit of Spain’s culture.
Miranda is not afraid of close combat. In clinches or tight quarters, she unleashes compact left hooks and overhand rights packed with intent and designed to break. Against challengers, she often stuns them against the ropes, finding openings to land heavy hooks that rock them. In exchanges, she typically follows her jab-cross-hook sequence with a sharp right uppercut, shifting levels and disorienting foes with a head-body-head that gradually wears down both their bodies and confidence.
Her defense is as disciplined and subtle as her offense. Miranda keeps her chin tucked and elbows close, reminiscent of the peek-a-boo style, while constantly slipping and rolling under incoming blows. Against high-volume punchers, slipping shots cleanly and countering with precise responses. She pairs a high guard with smooth footwork, allowing her to switch tactical intelligences.
Miranda carries the weight of Spain’s boxing legacy with a philosophy rooted in resilience and artistry. Her fighting style embodies both storm and calm—an unrelenting force paired with moments of calculated patience. In every bout, she channels the spirit of her predecessors and the poetry of her homeland, crafting a style that is as much about heart and soul as it is about skill and strategy.
